Portland Kickball Blog

Okay, going to start using this page.

I am going to make it a goal to really update this with talk of Dodgeball and Kickball. My next post will likely be a dodgeball strategy discussion. I have to learn how to do pictures for that I think though.

An Introduction to Portland Kickball

You might think that Kickball is not a big time sport. You might think that, but you would be wrong. There are at least four independent kickball leagues/groups in Portland. I currently play in two of them. They are, in no particular order:

Recess Leagues Formerly NW Kickball.

Oregon Kickball Club.

PDX NWAACK.

Underdog Portland Kickball.

Each team (at least in the NW Kickball and the Oregon Kickball Club) has between 12 and 20 players, with 11 playing at a time. (I did note that in the Underdog league, it is only 10 on a field at a time.) Anyway, the ball is pitched to the batter on a softball type field. The kicker either kicks (most likely bunts) or takes a strike or a ball (you get 4 balls, 2 strikes and 3 fouls (yes, fouls are counted seperately than strikes)). Essentially, this is softball with bunting, kicking, and being tagged out by being hit by the ball.

So, this blog, as it is, is going to be about kickball. It might be about strategy, it might be about some of the games, it may be about post game drinking. Who knows? I may make this blog open and have other kickballers post in. Anyway, thanks for stopping by.
